There are no tickets left, except for VIP final release options, which cost $125.
The first release tickets were only $20, with prices increasing for the second, third and final release.
Warrnambool City Council’s visitor economy manager David McMahon said the Oktoberfest event, at Shipwreck Bay Holiday Park, filled what was typically a quiet weekend for the city on October 6.
“It begins to use a space that isn’t usually used for events,” he said.
“It all forms part of council’s event strategy that is aimed at utilising council’s existing assets and targeting specific weekends to drive the visitor economy. The event is in its first year and we hope to grow it to be significantly larger once we review the first year’s results.”
Mr McMahon said community events like The Small Things Festival, the Warrnambool Show, the Gift, the fishing classic and the running festival on this weekend were examples of community led events that the council was supporting and funding.
German craft beer and cider will flow at the event and there will also be food trucks and German-inspired food, along with an oompah band, silent disco, local acoustic musicians and DJs.
Organiser Jordan Thulborn told The Standard he was stoked the festival was a sellout.
“We were at capacity and a small group who had VIP tickets pulled out, so that’s where those tickets have come from,” he said.
“With four weeks to go before the festival to be where we are with 1500 people coming it’s great. We are super happy with it, it’s great to see the town get around a new and fresh event. It gives us confidence for further events.”
He hoped to increase ticket numbers to 2500 next year.
