Principals Wendy and David Kelly sold 32 bulls at auction, which averaged $5359. A number of bulls were sold at the upset price of $4000 immediately after the sale.
Buyer of the top priced lot was MA & MA Woolston, Penola, SA, who paid $10,000 for lot six, Barwidgee 16113, a twin by Te Mania Emperor.
The bull had figures of +3.7 birth weight (BW), +87kg 400 day weight, +110kg 600 day weight and an eye muscle area of +5.1.
The Edge family, Phoines Pastoral, Casterton, bought three bulls to a top of $8000 and averaged $6166. Their top lot was Barwidgee 16499, from a first-calf heifer and a double cross to Rennylea Edmund E11. The bull was an outstanding calving ease sire with figures of +1 BW and gestation length (GL) of -5.5.
L & M S Ham, Freshwater Creek, paid $8000 for lot 1, Barwidgee 16129, another Emperor son from a high producing cow and top five percent in all indexes.
A volume buyer was Eulo Pastoral, Caramut, with five bulls to $7500 top and averaging $5300. The top price was a Carabar Docklands son, Barwidgee 16151, with a low 2.0 BW and +6,4 EMA.
Jamecca Plains Pastoral Co, Caramut, bought four bulls to a top of $6500 (twice) and averaged $5250. The top prices were for two sons of Barwidgee 14129, who both recorded +7.8 EMA.
