As part of the city centre renewal, Liebig Street will be home to a new piece of art.
Seal by Natimuk artist Dave Jones will surface from the pavement near 86 Liebig Street.
Warrnambool Art Gallery director Vanessa Gerrans said the community had pushed for curated public art.
Jones’ creation is a three-metre tall, faceted steel seal sculpture which will erupt from the bluestone pavers like a giant computerised sea creature.
“This is a marvellous legacy for Warrnambool,” Gerrans said.
“The gallery team has worked hard to select iconic, public art work that is technically astute but also a joyous and animated feature of the inner cityscape.”
