Twenty two racers travelled from all across the state for the first round of the Victorian Mower Racing Association (VicMow) 2018/19 season.

“Everything went perfect,” organiser Travis McIntosh said. “It could not have went any better.”

“It was a little wet, but once they got the track down to were they wanted it they were flying,” Mr McIntosh said.

“There is already a few locals talking about building these mowers”.

The overall winner was Brian Huggins, from Kangaroo Flat, on his modified mower “Grasshopper”.

VicMow secretary Debra Tourmey praised the first time track at Hamilton’s Western Speedway.

“The track was quite good,” she said. “It was different to be racing on a speedway track, it was great for sliding”.

“Everyone had a really great time”.

The size of the track was given special mention, with upto six racers being able to compete at one time.

Plans have already started to stage the race again in 2019, with the race to be staged under lights on the Saturday night.

“Definitely want to come back next year, but to race on a Saturday so people can stay overnight and drive home relaxed on Sunday,” Mrs Tourmey said.

The event raised $1,100 for the Hamilton Motorsport Park group.  The money will be used to add more attractions to the club’s annual car show.
