PHIL CARSE (CAMPERDOWN)
“Liam Hoy has had a good year over at Koroit, given they have won a lot of games, that gives a lot of opportunity to poll votes. Sandy Robinson at Port Fairy has been consistent and will have to feature high. For us, Jason Robinson has had a great second half of the year so if he can get a few early then he could come home strong.”
LEVI DARE (COBDEN)
“It’s been an even year, maybe Liam Hoy from Koroit or Josh Saunders at South. Sandy Robinson should poll alright. For us, I think Thomas Spokes will go well and Paul Pekin, but we just didn’t win enough games. I think umpires look at players who impact the final result, particularly those that have an influence late in a game.”
MATT DUNN (HAMILTON KANGAROOS)
“Josh Saunders is my tip. He was consistently in the best players for South Warrnambool and when he played well, South tended to win games. That means he will get a lot of two and three votes. He also kicks goals which is pretty valuable. Tyrone Ross has been terrific for us.”
CHRIS McLAREN (KOROIT)
“I think Liam Hoy and Brett Harrington will be our front runners, they have both had consistent seasons. Josh Saunders is a big chance, he is very explosive and rips the ball out of stoppages which catches the eye. He also hits the scoreboard. Luke Cody did well as a high half-forward and will poll well. Phil Carse played off half-back in the first half of the season and came onto the ball in the second half and played well in both positions so he is a big chance.”
GRAEME TWADDLE (NORTH WARRNAMBOOL EAGLES)
“It’s a really difficult year to pick a winner, I think it will be really close. Dan Weymouth has had a pretty good year and does well going forward, as well as taking a lot of marks in defence. I think as far as our boys go, the votes will be shared around. Sam James has had a fantastic year, Matthew Wines has been solid and Dylan Parish should poll a few.”
DAN NICHOLSON (PORT FAIRY)
“It will be interesting this year. Sandy Robinson has had a good year, he’s always around the contest, which is a good opportunity to get noticed. He has gone forward and kicked some goals.”
LUKE CRANE (PORTLAND)
“Dan Nicholson has missed a few games but he will still poll well. He has that x factor, against us here in the wet his skills were still amazing.”
MAT BUCK (SOUTH WARRNAMBOOL)
“Tim McIntrye from Koroit hasn’t missed many games and is a goalkicker. He really hurt us the couple of times we played them. Manny Sandow had a good back end of the season and Josh Saunders will poll well.”
MICHAEL SARGEANT (TERANG MORTLAKE)
“Probably Josh Saunders or Jordie McKenzie. Jordie has had a really solid year, he’s not the flashiest player around but he gathers a lot of possessions. Saunders has real burst away pace which makes him a stand out.”
MATTHEW O’BRIEN (WARRNAMBOOL)
Dan Weymouth has had an outstanding season in the ruck. He spent at least 10 minutes each quarter in the forward line and kicked 15 to 20 goals. Kane Mercovich has missed a few games with injury but he chopped us up both times we played Port Fairy. He’s a left-footer too which always catches the eye.”
