“I’m absolutely rapt especially after a disappointing prelim loss last year,” the 31-year-old said after his side’s 10.11 (71) to 5.11 (41) victory.
“The way that everyone bounced back and took something out of that and was really keen to make amends for that.”
The Blues were knocked out by Old Collegians in last year’s preliminary final but McDowall and his teammates had the last laugh in this year’s final.
McDowall, who captained the 2016 premiership side, had a front row seat to Nirranda’s impressive defence for majority of the year.
“Our backline has been superb all year,” the midfielder said.
“The rebound has been great this year and their pressure was fantastic today.”
