The significant coup is thanks to former Casterton and Hamilton resident Vera Lacey who died aged 95 in December 2011.
Vera Marion Lacey (nee Young) was born November 16, 1916 in Casterton.
Her father Sydney Leslie Young was a Casterton farmer and her mother was Agnes Marion Young.
Ms Lacey married Ormond Lawrence Lacey in Brighton in 1939, aged 23.
The keen racegoers lived in the Brighton area all their adult lives with their one child, son Edwin Graeme Lacey born 1942.
Vera was a long-time trust member and supporter of the Hamilton Gallery, contributing regularly during her lifetime and leaving 25 per cent of her substantial residual estate to the gallery after her death.
The gallery gratefully received the generous bequest on August 23.
