The Lions’ footballers ended a seven-year drought away from the Warrnambool and District league finals after storming out of the blocks and holding on to secure fifth place as the regular season neared its conclusion.
Ultimately Adam Matheson’s side were thumped in the elimination final against Timboon Demons. But the finals experience could be fuel for 2019 and beyond. The reserves winning the premiership last Saturday will also boost the club’s senior ranks.
