Port Campbell police Senior Constable Liam Cook said a sports bike was observed by police travelling south on the Great Ocean Road towards Nullawarre about 9.30pm.
He said police turned on their emergency lights in an attempt to intercept the the motorist, who was clocked at 150km/h.
“The driver then sped off and was heard travelling through the Nullawarre township at an increased speed,” he said.
“He would have been travelling at more than 150km/h in a signed 60 zone.”
Senior Constable Cook said the behaviour was very concerning.
“The Great Ocean Road itself is very dangerous, with sections of the road not suitable for vehicles travelling at even 100km/h,” he said.
“It is unacceptable that people use our roads in this sort of way. They are not only putting their own lives at risks, but the lives of others.”
Anyone with information should call Port Campbell police on 5598 6310 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
