Bill Millard, who has held roles with Glenelg Shire and Warrnambool City Council, will take on Moyne’s top job.
His first day on the job will be on October 15.
He replaces David Madden, who was CEO for seven years.
Mr Millard is currently the director of strategic development at Hobson’s Bay Council.
Mr Millard said he was looking forward to working with councillors and staff to learn as much as possible about Moyne Shire and the opportunities and challenges ahead.
“I want to visit and hear about the many aspects of the Shire and spend time with community members to understand their needs and aspirations,” Mr Millard said.
His appointment was signed off on by Moyne Shire councillors at their August meeting this week.
Moyne Shire mayor Mick Wolfe said he was pleased the search for a new CEO had ended with a successful appointment.
“Bill has the experience, skills and qualifications to help guide the organisation on this important journey,” Cr Wolfe said.
“He also understands the challenges facing rural communities. He has a passion for community development and the business skills to ensure we remain on the right path.
“He has held leadership and management roles within south west Victoria and is experienced in dealing with the unique challenges our regional community faces.”
