A spokeswoman for Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were called to the intersection of Hyland and Koroit streets in Warrnambool about 6.45am on Monday.
She said a man aged in his 20s was transported to Warrnambool Base Hospital in a stable condition.
Warrnambool police Acting Sergeant Lana Roberts said the vehicle crashed into a pole.
“We believe it occurred at high speed,” she said.
The driver returned a positive breath test.
Acting Sergeant Roberts said investigations were being made.
“Further details at this stage are not known,” she said.
“The driver has gone to hospital and we will be making further inquiries.”
