The seven-year-old won the Kyneton Cup last year and Wilde will use the same path this year for Dodging Bullets to run in the 2000-metre race.
“We had to kick Dodging Bullets preparation off somewhere and this race appealed,” he said. “The 1200 metres is too short but as I said we needed to start somewhere.
“Dodging Bullets won two races last spring the first one was under lights at the Valley, while the other was the Kyneton Cup. We’ll be aiming Dodging Bullets for the same races this year.”
Promising three-year-old colt Tee Train, trained by Wilde, was scratched from a crack $120,000 three-year-old race over 1200 metres. Tee Train will head to the spelling paddock after Wilde found the son of Savabeel had a small bone chip in his near front leg.
“It’s disappointing that Tee Train’s spring campaign is over,” he said. “It’s a speed hump but Tee Train will be back for the autumn.”
Darren Weir’s Warrnambool satellite stable has multiple runners at the meeting, while Jarrod McLean and Matthew Williams also have runners on the nine race program.
