Usually the domain of fast food and alcohol, Lucas Brothers Butchers now boasts a drive-through since moving to a new prominent central location.
Lucas Brothers Butchers began trading from the former Classic Dry Cleaners site on Banyan Street on Monday.
Owners Pete and Tracey Harris said feedback had been positive and the first day of trade was “flat out” with regulars and new customers.
“Not many places have a drive-through butcher shop,” he laughed.
Mr Harris said the building was “totally revamped” to include a new roof, flooring and rear walls as well structural work which was completed on site.
“The only thing that’s left is the fascia at the front and the beams that were in here. Everything else is new. It’s unreal.”
He said they looked around town for about six months before buying the property in July last year and they had been working on the redevelopment since March.
Mr Harris said they have added handmade smallgoods to their existing range of products.
The business employs about 10 people including four full-time workers, three casuals and school students.
Mr Harris designed the building himself and thanked the tradespeople, his staff and customers for their work and support.
