The Eagles won 12.10 (82) to the Kangaroos 7.9 (51) in front of a home crowd at Bushfield Oval.
“Our work rate wasn't where it needed to be, and some of our turnovers were costly,” he said.
“But we turned it around in the second half with improved work rate.”
Dunn said Jandre Slabbert and Sean Barnes were impressive off the half-back line, while emerging youngster Dylan Stark was a good four-quarter play on the wing.
Jordan Dillon was best on ground for North Warrnambool Eagles with Jarryd Lewis slotting a game-high three goals.
