The Demons now set up a date with Kolora-Noorat next weekend and Hunt said his side has been constantly building as the season has progressed.
“We feel we have been slowly building all year,” he said after the 23.10 (148) to 6.10 (46) elimination final victory over the Lions.
“We started late with our pre-season and I think the boys are very fresh and I think they feel good about it.”
Hunt mentioned internal pressure as a key factor in the Demons’ strong showing.
“It’s also probably the first time we have had all but one player playing and I just think those are the little things that people don’t see or know about,” the third-year coach said.
“I think when all of our players came together today they knew there were options and there are other players unlucky to miss so that creates internal pressure and that’s a good pressure.
“The players were playing for one another today and if they felt like they couldn’t run into an open goal they would pass it and I thought we took the right options.”
Hunt said he was pleased with his charges ability to take responsibility for making sure they kicked a winning score.
“We never relied on anyone today,” he said. “Bayley (Thompson) ended up with a number but he was in the right spot at the right time and it might not be him next week it might be someone else.
“Hopefully we can have that same even spread next weekend.”
Thompson finished with seven majors, while the Demons had another 12 individual goal scorers.
The experienced mentor credited “crisp” ball movement as a key factor in his side’s ability to convert inside 50.
“Fast ball movement and pressure on the ball carrier are all things that matter (in finals),” he said. “I think if you’re crisp, sharp and you’re up and about it’s pretty hard to cut it off going forward.”
Hunt and his charges now shift their attention to the Power next Sunday.
“I’d never be feeling confident against Kolora-Noorat and it’s going to be a hell of a game,” he said. “We will have to be playing at our best to get near them and hopefully if we can manage to play like we did today we will good opposition to them.”
