Corangamite Shire councillor and Liberal stalwart Bev McArthur has been pre-selected for the Upper House Western Victoria seat, the party announced on Sunday.

Mrs McArthur, wife of former Corangamite MP Stewart McArthur, will replace Simon Ramsay who is not re-contesting the seat after high-range drink driving charges.
Mrs McArthur, former state Liberal vice-president, was chosen over Kristy Beveridge, of Victoria Valley in the Grampians.
South-west Liberal Party branches did not get to vote in the pre-selection process as there was not enough time before the November election, opposition leader Matthew Guy said, with the Liberal Party’s central committee deciding the outcome
“In a perfect world, we would have a normal pre-selection process, but we just do not have the time,” Mr Guy said on a visit to Warrnambool last month.
