The Ballarat-based college will compete in an unprecedented 10th consecutive Herald Sun Shield grand final against St Bernard’s.
The match will be played as a curtain-raiser to the AFL game between Collingwood and Port Adelaide.
Scott Carlin (Terang), Lochie Dawson (Hamilton), Isaac Wareham (Mortlake), Josh Chatfield and Fraser Marris (Warrnambool) will be the south-west contingent in the team.
Carlin, who is vice-captain, said every player was looking forward to the big game.
"It will be a big thrill to play on the MCG and it is just unreal because everyone dreams about doing it since you are a kid, so it is a dream come true," he said.
"It has been really exciting in the lead up and around school there has been plenty of buzz with everyone really getting around us.
"And all the boys (from school) seem to be coming down to watch us so hopefully we can get the win."
The match is a replay of last year’s Herald Sun Shield grand final which St Bernard’s won by 16 points.
Carlin said redemption was on the minds of the St Pat’s team.
"They beat us last year and have a real decent team again, so the game could easily go either way," he said.
"I think they are a lot bigger than us, but we are more of a running team which I think will be the key for us.
"And we have lost the last two years so I think we want it more and after playing in a losing one I think we will all want to get it (the title) back."
