Over 200 people have attempted to eat the 900 gram parmigiana, with a side of beer-battered fries.
Rafferty’s Tavern general manager Mark McIlroy said the business was donating $3 for every giant parma sold to the Parma for a Farmer charity, with $200 extra when a new record time was set.
“We set the benchmark at six minutes and the first record was six minutes and a few seconds,” Mr McIlroy said.
“Then it went to five minutes and 36 seconds.”
Mr McIlroy said around 30 people have tried to better the record time.
He said it was important for the venue to help with the national fundraising effort, especially after the St Patrick’s Day fires in the south-west.
“I don’t know how much more time they can shave off the record,” Mr McIlroy said.
The competition will run until the end of September.
