She will be at The Loft in Warrnambool tonight with her singer-songwriter cap on, playing a host of original songs that will form a body of recorded work going forward.
“For the past 18 months, it has been mostly about writing,” Adams explained.
“This tour is all about me up on stage laying out my songs and seeing what response I get. I have a lot of songs, too many, some I have developed like a favourite child. I have chosen to embark on a solo tour, without my band, just to get the songs out there and see what happens.”
Adams has one album in her back catalogue, a self-titled offering, that includes 10 covers and one original.
The album was made up of songs Adams produced as part of her time as a contestant on The X Factor television show in 2015.
Her performances were strong enough for the album to reach number 22 on the ARIA charts and have her named runner-up in the show’s final voting.
While the Mount Gambier-based Adams is grateful for her time on The X Factor and the opportunities it created, she is also excited about getting her original compositions heard.
“I do cross genres, there are influences from grunge, blues, rock, country, but the common ground, the bed of my music, would be soul, that is what drives my vocal style in particular,” she said.
Those going along to Adams’ show will get value for money, with Killarney singer-songwriter Nancie Schipper also on the bill.
Schipper’s career continues to soar, with the talented songstress recently chosen as a finalist in triple j Unearthed High competition.
