‘Educator PD: Calling All Teachers’ is a new videogame-centred project teachers educators the art of game lessons and how to share their new-found knowledge in the classroom.
Primary and secondary teachers from all learning areas are invited to participate in the Warrnambool Art Gallery-hosted event.
The aim of the event is for teachers to learn how to deliver more effective teaching and learning programs.
Under the supervision of Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) digital education producers Vincent Trundle and Roland Dempster, the participants will further their gaming skills and knowledge.
Warrnambool Art Gallery director Vanessa Gerrans said the opportunity would improve teachers confidence in the classroom.
“Young people and so responsive to new ideas and creative opportunities in the digital and screen cultures.
“We’re excited to support teachers to build their capacity and bring fresh and engaging real-world learning to the classroom.
“Teachers don’t need to be a gamer to engage with the opportunities videogames offer for learning across the curriculum.”
Educator PD: Calling All Teachers will be held at the Warrnambool Art Gallery August 30.
The gallery is also hosting a session on improving gaming and YouTube skills for students aged 12 to 16, on August 30.
