Member for Western Victoria and Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford will unveil a partnership between the state government and Moyne Shire Council to provide $1.5 million funding for road works at Wangoom.
Under the Victorian government’s Local Roads to Market program, Ms Pulford will announce $998,000. Moyne Shire will chip in $502,000.
The money will allow five kilometres of Staywood and Spring Flat roads to be widened and the roads’ intersection at Wangoom to be upgraded.
This will allow improved access for heavy freight vehicles picking up from dairy and beef farmgates.
Ms Pulford said the funding was a big step forward for farmers.
“Our Local Roads to Market program is supporting communities that rely on farming to ensure their top-quality produce is delivered to market in good condition, safe and on time,” Ms Pulford said.
“Our farm businesses and their supply chains across south-west Victoria will see improved productivity and be in a better position to compete in international markets because of this investment.”
The road funding announcement will be among a number of public engagements for Ms Pulford during her visit to the south-west.
These will include an inspection of the Warrnambool CBD revitlisation project.
