Bombers coach Levi Dare said the 15.5 (95) to 9.11 (65) defeat was a “disappointing way to go out”.
They can’t make up ground with two rounds to play.
“We didn’t play anywhere near our best footy,” Dare said.
“In the first five minutes I thought we were up and about but they got a run-on and kicked the next eight goals and that was the difference.
“After quarter-time it was pretty even.”
Eagles coach Graeme Twaddle said they got off to a “flyer in the first quarter which helped our cause”.
He praised emerging duo Will Scriven and Joe McKinnon, who played on Dare in defence, for their contributions.
The Bombers lost Noah Mounsey and Ryleigh McVilly to injury before the bounce.
