A public performance on Friday night has sold out and limited tickets remain for Thursday evening’s show to be held at the college’s Anderson Theatre.
The classic tale of love features a cast and crew of 60 students in years seven to 12.
Starring roles in the musical include year 12 student Angelique Van Antwerpen who plays Belle, alongside year 10 student Ashley Rogers-Brigden who is the beast.
Director Anna Gage said there were two school performances on Wednesday and two more were scheduled for both Thursday and Friday as well as the two public performances.
“It’s a big ask (for the students) and they’re having to work very hard,” Ms Gage said.
“The school performances have gone superbly. They’ve gone brilliantly and the students from the primary schools have loved it.”
Ms Gage said the students started working on the production in April, rehearsing during the week, on weekends and during school holidays.
Ms Gage said it was great to see the performers’ self confidence grow throughout the rehearsals and performances.
“There’s a lot of great team work skills,” she said. “It’s fantastic for them and their confidence. They come away from it empowered and feeling good and they’ve made a whole lot of new friends in the school.”
Ms Gage said musicals and performing arts were a strong focus at the college and something the staff and students were proud of. The college hosts a musical production and a play performance each year.
“Our students do such a wonderful job and we give them such a great lead up with their drama and support them onstage. It’s great to see them shine in a different light to the classroom environment.”
