Warrnambool historicals August 1985

Star Dennington footballer Wayne Cox made history when he won his fourth straight Warrnambool and district league best and fairest. In the Hampden league, Cobden ruckman Peter Anson won the Maskell Cup.

Madonna was dominating the music charts in August 1985 with her songs Crazy for You and Into the Groove both in the top 10. Australian band The Uncanny X Men also had a hit with 50 Years.

The real estate market was strong in Warrnambool with a three-bedroom house in Laverock Road selling for $78,000 while a two-bedroom home in Gibson Street sold for $48,000.

Popular performer Jon English was in Warrnambool at the Lady Bay Hotel while Julie Anthony was at the Performing Arts Centre.

Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village won a $90,000 grant for a project to refurbish the tourist attraction. 

Warrnambool and District Motorcycle Owners Club raised $500 for an hydraulic pump for the Warrnambool SES Unit.
