These words summed up the 24 projects showcased at the Student Leaders Congress Night of Celebration on Monday in Warrnambool.
Inspiring young leaders showcased projects they initiated to improve their community’s health and wellbeing, ranging from mindfulness activities, healthy eating programs, connecting with community members and rubbish-free days.
The students, in years five to eight, presented their projects to more than 400 people. Co-organiser Simon Perry said it was great to see the variety of events organised and congratulated the student leaders on their work in their schools and local communities.
The congress aims to build the skills of young people in local schools and communities to become future community leaders. It is in its fifth year.
Students shared a two-minute film documentary about the real-life workshops and events they hosted to build their leadership skills.
As part of the congress, held in March, students determine a health and well-being issue in their community where they can make a difference.
