“It’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made,” says Glenda and Frank.

The 68 and 75-year-old couple are among the first residents to move into Stockland’s new $4.8 million development at Gillin Park Retirement Village in Warrnambool.

They purchased a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom villa, and will be living together for the first time since selling their respective homes and downsizing to live a more relaxed retirement.

“It was love at first sight,” said Glenda. “Our new villa has everything we could ever want. It’s spacious, modern and allows us to maintain our independence – it feels like home.

“We have met so many new friends since we moved into Gillin Park and we are really enjoying the community atmosphere.

“It has become a bit of a family affair here too. My brother and sister-in-law found out we were looking at moving into the village and came along to see what all the fuss is about. They’ve just moved in across the street.”

Glenda and Frank’s villa is one of seven recently completed new homes at Gillin Park Retirement Village.

Four of the homes have been sold, with the remaining three high-lifestyle, low- maintenance homes starting from $329,000.

The redevelopment of Gillin Park Retirement Village includes a new residents’ clubhouse which is set to be the beating heart of the new community and will cater to residents health, wellbeing and lifestyle needs.

Designed to offer residents an active and well-connected retirement, the new clubhouse will include a gym, library, lounge and billiards area, a multi-purpose community room, kitchen and servery, as well as an additional professional room for consults and treatments with external healthcare providers.

Construction of the clubhouse is well underway and is due for completion this September. New landscaping is also being completed at the village entrance as part of other general upgrade works.

“Warrnambool is a prime retirement destination,” said Stockland Regional Development Manager Paul Keleher.

“These new homes will help us meet the increasing demand we are seeing from a generation of retirees wanting to live a relaxed coastal lifestyle.

“Two of the seven new homes were bought off-the-plan, a further two have just been sold, and we have received some strong interest in the remaining properties.

“These homes have been specially designed to meet the modern needs and expectations of retirees. Our new development will provide residents with a low- maintenance, safe and secure home where they can maintain their independence as part of a vibrant community of like-minded retirees.

“We anticipate that the village’s new clubhouse will become a hub of activity and the focal point of the Gillin Park community and look forward to unveiling it later in the year.

“Stockland worked closely with Warrnambool City Council and our village’s 115 existing residents to incorporate their feedback and ensure the development plan would meet current and future needs.”

Residents at Gillin Park Retirement Village already enjoy an outdoor entertaining area with barbeque and communal garden. They also enjoy the benefit of wide open spaces, and full maintenance inside and outside of their homes.

Mr Keleher said Stockland offered a money back guarantee for new residents to help them make their retirement decisions with confidence.

“If within six months of moving in, new residents change their mind and notify us that they want to move out, we’ll refund what they have paid to Stockland,” he said.
