Performance: A show in Warrnambool will be another step in the search for an elusive honour for Tasmania band The Wolfe Brothers.
Since bursting onto the scene as runners-up in the 2012 version of the television show Australia's Got Talent, The Wolfe Brothers have established themselves as one of the most popular country music acts in Australia. But as bass player Tom Wolfe explains, one thing is missing from their CV.
“We have been nominated for 14 Golden Guitar awards at Tamworth but haven’t won one yet,” Wolfe said.
“Hopefully we can keep building momentum towards that and our Warrnambool fans might push that along a bit more.”
As part of their climb through the ranks, The Wolfe Brothers have performed on some big stages, including the Golden Guitars award ceremony.
But Wolfe explained their gig at the Whalers Hotel on Sunday would be a return to their roots.
“We love playing in hotels, it’s great fun,” Wolfe said.
“We cut our teeth playing in pubs in Tasmania so these venues are like a second home for us.”
The Wolfe Brothers have also played internationally, including a US midwest tour on the county fair circuit.
The Whalers Hotel show is part of a national tour promoting their fourth album, Country Heart, which debuted at number nine on the ARIA charts.
Wolfe, who is joined in the band by his brother Nick (guitar, vocals) and Brodie Rainbird (guitar), said the band was grateful to their loyal fans.
““We have our fans to thank for going out and buying the album and giving us our highest ARIA all-genre chart position to date,” he said.
““We are very proud of this album and we feel that we achieved what we set out to do and to see it debut at number nine is very satisfying and a great start to the next chapter for the band.”
