Detective Sergeant Jason Dance, of Warrnambool Crime Investigation Unit, said a 47-year-old woman was arrested, interviewed and charged with drug and property offences after a warrant was executed at a Simpson Street address in Terang. She was charged with possessing drugs, handling stolen goods and was bailed to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on October 1.

"A 17-year-old male was also arrested in relation to burglaries and thefts and will also be charged," he said.

Detective Sergeant Dance said the warrant was obtained after a number of burglaries were committed in Warrnambool and the Corangamite district.

"Recovered items include watches, tools, cigarettes and other goods relating to a couple of burglaries," he said.

"They were stolen in a number of burglaries committed in the past couple of months including those at Reicha's Drapery and the Terang BP service station.

 "We arrested the mother at the Simpson Street address and went looking for the male at a McCrae Street address. He was arrested at the Terang Railway Station." 

Detective Sergeant Dance said it was a very pleasing result for police and the community.

"This morning's warrant indicates the police determination to bring offenders to justice and recover stolen property," he said.

"We would like to recognise the information received from the community which has led to this police action and these arrests. 

"Offences are being thoroughly investigated and offenders will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

"We need the continued support of the community and information to best do our jobs.”
