Mr Vickers had his first haircut for 10 years on Wednesday and got close to $30,000 for his troubles.
The money will go to the cancer council.
Mr Vickers said he started raising money for his head shave in March.
The decision to shave his beloved locks was in honour of his mother Jenny, who lost her fight with cancer in February.
"I'm rapt with the amount of money we have raised, it's a lot more than I expected," Mr Vickers said.
"The community has been so generous, everyone has got around it. If the money I raise can help one person then it is worth it."
Mr Vickers’ mate Dylan Nelson took up the duties of hairdresser for the day, with a big and vocal crowd gathered for the occasion.
The shave was held outside Mr Vickers’ workplace, Sheehan’s Meats, in Bank Street.
