A roof has also been ripped from a home in Cobden.
Jeff Mason, from the Cobden SES unit, said a crew worked to bring down a section of the roof that had flicked up in the wind.
He said the unit was called out to half a dozen trees that had fallen down in Cobden between 6pm and 9pm.
Warrnambool SES removed a tree that had fallen down in Purnim about 4pm.
Unit controller Giorgio Palmeri said Highway Patrol and members of the public removed parts of the tree that had fallen on the corner of Hopkins Highway and Mcswains Road.
“The unit then worked to remove the rest of the tree,” he said.
The Camperdown SES unit was also busy with minor building damage that occurred at a Leura Street property about 6pm.
Camperdown SES member Colin Brian said the occupant of the house had opened the front door, letting in a strong gust of wind that blew out a second door located on the side of the house.
“We attended the property, assessed the damage, applied some sand bags and put some nails on the inside of the door to ensure the wind couldn’t get in,” he said.

A woman has been taken to hospital after severe winds caused a carport to collapse in Terang.
The Terang woman aged in her 50s suffered head and shoulder injuries after a section of a carport at Black Street collapsed about 5.40pm on Monday.
Sections of the carport also caused damage to a nearby power line, resulting in a power outage that affected more than 70 customers.
A spokeswoman for Ambulance Victoria said the victim was transported to Warrnambool Base Hospital in a stable condition.
Terang SES unit controller Jamie Rowe said the unit worked to clean debris off the road and ensure the structure was safe.
He said a section of train tracks located near the Terang train station were temporarily closed as a precaution.
The 7:13pm Warrnambool bound train was delayed by approximately 19 minutes due to track congestion.
Mr Rowe said extreme winds had also ripped a section of roof from a property a few metres away in Seymour Street.
“The unit worked quickly to repair that roof,” he said.
”The winds are blowing fairly strong.”
The unit left the scene about 7pm.
A Powercor crew was working to fix the broken line at that time.
