It faces a tough month ahead which includes matches against the two top teams, Cobden and North Warrnambool Eagles.
The Blues recorded a 17-goal win against a young Terang Mortlake on Saturday but their coach and captain admitted the performance was not acceptable.
Coach Raewyn Poumako said the performance was uncharacteristic of her team.
"We just lacked that intensity from the start," she said.
"Normally we are a team that comes out really fired up from the start, but we weren't today, we were just flat.
"We want to finish the season well and go into each game prepared and ready to play our best knowing we have given it a really good crack.”
Warrnambool captain Amy Wormald shared similar thoughts to her coach and believed the performance reflected the Blues’ preparation for the match.
"I sort of feel like we did come into it a little too casually this week," she said.
"Training was probably not as intense as we would usually like it and we definitely didn't have an attitude like we were going to come out and win, that's for sure.
"We probably aren't too happy with the way we are playing at the moment.
"We want to get as much as we can out of this season, I don't know if our run is a little bit too late for finals. It will obviously depend on a lot of other teams winning and losing and that sort of thing.”
It was a total different feeling from the Terang Mortlake camp after the match.
Coach Lisa Arundell said she happy with her team’s performance despite not getting the win.
"Just to see the way they handle the pressure and handle the conditions because there are some fairly experienced players out there in Sarah O'Keefe and Amy Wormald (was pleasing),” she said.
"And that's one of the things that I said to them after the game that I really loved, was that they weren't intimidated by who they were playing on and who they were playing against so that was fantastic.”
"The are still going for the hard ball, a couple of times it didn't pay off and they got called for contact but the thing is they are still going for it.
"The stronger and the better they get and the more they read the faster play they'll get those balls in the future, so it is a starting point and we are pretty happy with the way the juniors are coming through."
