Timboon P-12’s under 16 boys cross country team stormed to a podium finish at the state school cross country championships at Bundoora Park on Thursday.

The five-runner team of Logan Cuthell (15th, 18 minutes and 35 seconds), Kobe Henderson (27th, 19 minutes and three seconds), Lachlan Berry (33rd, 19 minutes and 11 seconds), Robbie Gleeson (38th, 19 minutes and 25 seconds) and Ben Matthews (47th, 19 minutes and 58 seconds) finished third just pipping Melbourne High School and finishing behind Bendigo South East College and Balwyn High School.
Other individual efforts for Timboon P-12 were Heidi Stansfield, who finished 31st in the under 16 girls, and Finn Castledine, who placed 20th in the 9-10 boys.
Emmanuel College finished just off the podium twice in the under 14 boys (Will Gleisner, Ethan Boyd, Henry Rhodes and Jamie Lloyd) and under 16 girls (Molly O'Brien, Annelli Cook, Martina Da Ros, Ella Titmus and Hannah Owen).
Warrnambool College (ninth under 15 girls and seventh 17-20 boys) and Mercy Regional College Camperdown (seventh 12/13 boys) also had teams in the state final.
St Joseph’s Primary School also had four runners with Emily Banson (79th), Shaylee Ralston (76th) in the under 11 girls, Taj Riddle (68th 9-10 boys) and Will Main (45th under 11 boys) representing the school at Bundoora.
Mortlake P-12’s Mia Ritchie (80th), Warrnambool Primary’s Grace Carter (79th), St Patrick’s Koroit student Claudia Tutt (55th) and St Pat’s Camperdown student Kate Smith (67th) all had one individual runner in the 12-13 girls on Thursday.
