Didirri’s debut EP, Measurements, has entered the ARIA album charts at number 19.
The EP is also the fifth highest album on the ARIA charts this week by an Australian artist.
Measurements was released at Didirri’s sold-out show at The Loft in Warrnambool on July 6.
The six-track EP has been released on UNIFIED records.
Didirri’s father, Warrnambool resident Barry Peters, said the entry into the ARIA top 20 was a huge achievement for his son.
“It’s massive, it’s the equivalent of a local footballer getting picked up in the national draft,” Mr Peters said.
“It gives him mainstream recognition and will help with record contracts going forward.
“He has a wide spectrum of fans that come to his shows and he is well regarded in music industry circles.
“Having his debut EP go top 20 in the ARIA charts will certainly assist in getting him noticed even more.”
While Didirri is making an impression Australia-wide, his reach is also spreading globally.
A track off Measurements, Bird Sounds, has had 200,000 hits in Europe over the past week.
This comes after booking agent Tom Windish signed on to look after Didirri in the US and UK.
Windish, who is also the booking agent for Coldplay, has Didirri lined up for his first US tour in November.
This will follow Didirri’s upcoming Australian tour as a support act for Vance Joy.
This will include a show at Rod Laver Arena on September 8.
The six tracks on Measurements will feature in Didirri’s set list at the Vance Joy shows, but Mr Peters said audiences will also get to hear some songs they may not have heard before.
“Didirri is writing songs all the time, he has a big back catalogue he plays live,” Mr Peters said.
“This creates a very exciting show, there is still a lot more for audiences to discover about him. The success of the EP and a really strong touring schedule is a nice start to his career, it will give some good momentum.”
