Mr Tehan toured the students’ workshed and demonstrations of hands-on learning activities including painting, drilling, mechanics and sanding.
Hands on Learning coordinator Leon Carey said it was a great opportunity for the students to showcase their practical skills.
“The boys were pleased to be able to share their latest handiworks with Dan,” he said. “They’ve been working on quite a few community projects recently. Having Dan ask them questions about the processes and about how the program works was really engaging for them.”
During his visit Mr Tehan planted a tree, promising to follow up on its progress.
Hands on Learning is an alternative learning program giving young people an opportunity to engage in building projects that benefit the school and community.
