Detective Senior Constable Richard Hughes, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said an offender broke into a Kelp Street property between 5am on July 14 and midday on July 17.
He said entry was gained by forcing open the front door of the premises while the family was on holiday.
The offender has then ransacked the entire property, stealing jewelry, cameras and personal paper work.
“The unknown offender has gone through all the drawers, cupboards and wardrobes – pulling everything out and completely destroying the place,” Senior Constable Hughes said.
“The family has come home from holiday to find their house has been burglarised, they are quite traumatised.”
