Oliver Annett, Archie Stevens (South Warrnambool), Ned Timms, Callum Grundy (North Warrnambool Eagles), Hamish Sinnott (Camperdown), Duncan and Josh Rentsch (Penshurst), Kyle Delaney (Timboon Demons), Henry and Samuel Kenna (Kolora-Noorat), Mac Petersen (Koroit) and Angus Bade (Warrnambool) were all selected in the final 50-player squad.
The squad was confirmed after an extensive selection process and the Western Bulldogs NGA regional trial matches that concluded last Wednesday. The selected players will prepare for the V/Line Cup, which starts on September 24.
Hampden region coach Ben Walsh, who will also be an assistant coach to Western Bulldogs NGA mentors Shaun O’Loughlin and Ricky Andrews, said he was pleased to see some of his side make it into the final squad.
“I’m really pleased with how the whole team performed in the two trial games and I’m looking forward to seeing how the boys who got selected go at the next stage in Gippsland,” he said.
“It’s a good indication of the talent in the region if we have over 10 boys make the final squad.”
Walsh said the boys selected were all fast and strong, had a good mix of height and would adjust well to the step up in level.
“They are all really exciting and talented footballers and I can’t wait to see where their journeys go next,” he said.
