He took to the court in front of a home crowd, scoring 12 points, to help the Seahawks to a 13-point win against Whittlesea Pacers.
Coach Tim Gainey said Sobey’s inclusion had been “kept quiet” and he was not sure if he would play out the season.
“We’ll see what commitments he has, obviously with his national commitments and Adelaide commitments they take priority but we will play it by ear,” he said.
“If he can keep playing that’s great for us but if not we have proven we can win with the team we have and we will keep pushing on.”
The Seahawks also defeated Sunbury Jets on Saturday night.
The Warrnambool Mermaids have further strengthened their hold on third spot on the ladder but are still yet to sneak into second.
The Mermaids registered an 18-point win on against the Pacers.
Coach Louise Brown said she and her players had not given up hope of moving up the ladder.
"I am hopeful we can win our last two games definitely but relying on another team to get beaten is always a 50-50 and something we have no control over,” she said.
"Fingers crossed we can get in second spot, it would mean we get a weekend off and go straight into a best-of-three semi-final instead of an elimination final.
"But you've got to beat everyone to be the best so we will take it as it comes.”
