Experienced goal defence Sarah Higgins will miss Saturday’s critical encounter against fourth-placed Port Fairy but the Blues will be boosted by the return of goal shooter Amy Wormald (basketball duties).
Blues midcourter Sarah O’Keeffe said open grade mentor Raewyn Poumako would have to shift her magnets.
“A reshuffle of our players will be needed,” she said. “A few of our midcourt players will have to be swung into defence to cover Sarah.”
O’Keeffe said it was great to have the experienced Wormald back in the side.
“We now have Amy back until basketball finals and she will slot right back in,” she said. “It will be good to have the combination of Jess (Thwaites) and her back in our goal circle.”
The long-time Blue said Warrnambool, which sits eight points out of the top-five in seventh, would need to continue to bring its A game if it was to be any chance of slipping into the finals at season’s end.
