Tiffany, 16, competed in the World Supremacy Battlegrounds State Championship in Melbourne where she won best female soloist and was named the overall soloist state champion.

Melissa’s Dance Elements teacher Emily Trigg said it was a great achievement and followed Tiffany’s win at the Australian Dance Crew Championships, another hip hop competition the week before. 

“You’re competing against the best of the best in Melbourne,” Emily said. “It’s a pretty big change of scenery for these dancers. She’s done an amazing job carrying through what she’s done in the studio to the stage in such an intimidating and competitive environment.”

She said Tiffany had worked “super hard” and trained with her weekly. “She’s really stepped up with her hip hop this year.”

Tiffany performed to a mash up of songs and was competing against adult dancers. “Everyone in Melbourne is really professional,” Tiffany said. “They train every day and they all go to hip hop dance schools. Because it was state finals it was really good competition. They were all so amazing I didn’t really expect to win. I was happily surprised. I went to do my best.”

The nationals are in Sydney on October 11.
