South-west region to experience possible hail and thunderstorms

Widespread rain and possible hail is expected to fall across the region today. 

The temperature at 7.30am was 7.2 degrees and it felt like 2.6.

Today’s expected top is 11 degrees and there’s a 90 per cent chance of rain, easing to showers during the afternoon. There is a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, mainly near the coast.

Winds are coming from the north averaging between 15 and 25 km/hr and becoming light in the evening. 

Sheep graziers are warned of low temperatures, rain and northerly winds shifting southwesterly during Wednesday.

Areas likely to be affected include parts of the South West and Central forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
