More than 60 attendees will enjoy traditional Italian fare at a long lunch and auction, with proceeds to be donated to the Cancer Council and the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation.
Its organiser Giovanni De Ceccio is hopeful of raising $10,000 at the event in memory of his own mum Antonietta De Mari, his partner Ash Miller’s mum Yvonne Miller, Port Fairy residents Jenny Vickers and Gwen Burnett and young Pippa Rea, 11. “We thought we can celebrate these people,” he said. “They’re all beautiful people. It was an emotional decision to celebrate the lives of these beautiful women and try and do something.”
He was overwhelmed by the number of people who contributed to the sold-out event. “Everybody’s been very generous to donate almost all of the supplies for the meal and a lot of stuff to be auctioned,” he said.
