Jason McMahon, 47, of Warrnambool, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court this week to drink-driving and drug charges.
He has similar drink-driving prior court appearances in 2009 and 1991.
McMahon was seen at 2.15am driving near the intersection of Menzies and Crawley streets in west Warrnambool on December 24 and pulled over by police.
There was a bag of seven grams of cannabis sitting on his car front passenger seat and he blew .081, admitting he had half-a-dozen pots of beer before driving.
McMahon said he smoked cannabis daily, had last smoked at 6.30pm and thought he would have been over the alcohol limit when pulled over.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose said McMahan had made an error of judgement, but warned him if he drove during the 16-month suspension he would virtually be sentencing himself to a term of imprisonment.
