Port Fairy's Noah Best leads Warrnambool Sungold Junior Open after round one

HOME-town contender Noah Best is the one to beat at the Sungold Junior Open at Warrnambool.

The Warrnambool-based golfer, who is a member at Port Fairy, fired 74 on Monday to take a one-shot lead into the final day’s play.

Colac’s Max Miraglia (75) sits second.

Colac’s Georgia Fish leads the female section after carding 80, to be five shots clear of Spring Valley’s Tiana Wanigasekera (85).

Best, 16, and Fish, 17, won at the Alec Calvert Junior Open in Port Fairy on Sunday and carried their strong form into the two-day Warrnambool tournament.

Over 50 golfers are competing in the Sungold Junior Open – down on previous years.
