A tow truck driver says he considers the man who ploughed a logging truck into a lamp post “very lucky.”
Shir McCosker from Modern Towing in Warrnambool said he was called to the entry to Deakin University on the Princes Highway about 2am this morning.
“The driver was very lucky that the truck didn’t roll over and more damage wasn’t caused,” he said.
“It’s hit the pole and then the sign and was un-driveable. It was towed to Melbourne by heavy haulage.”

The entry to Deakin University’s Warrnambool campus is a mess after a logging truck ploughed into a sign, a lamp post and then a tree.
It appears the truck was travelling towards Warrnambool on the Princes Highway when it ran off the road and collided with the university’s welcome tower at the front of the campus.
A Warrnambool police spokesman said the incident occurred overnight on Sunday.
The grass area at the front of the university was a mud pit on Monday morning, with a lamp post and a tree ripped from their base and strewn across the ground.
Police are investigating the incident.
