Camperdown police Senior Constable Don Camilleri said a 23-year-old Vite Vite resident drove off the road and into trees on Linton Road, 200 metres north of Cahills Road, in Lismore about 5.15am on Sunday.
Emergency services cut the male driver out of the car, which landed upside down on its roof.
Senior Constable Camilleri said the man was flown to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
It was among four single vehicle crashes in four days on the region’s roads.
Koroit police were called to a single vehicle collision on the Princes Highway at Killarney about 3.40pm on Monday.
Leading Senior Constable Andy Gottliebsen said the male driver suffered minor injuries and police were investigating the cause of the accident.
A woman was lucky to escape serious injury on Friday when her vehicle ran out off the road near Woolsthorpe and on Thursday a German worker was flown to Melbourne with head injuries after he crashed on Tarrone Lane, Tarrone.
In other news, a joint operation between Victorian Fisheries and police from Terang, Mortlake and Warrnambool Highway Patrol have targeted anglers along the south-west coast.
Sergeant Daniel Brown said the operation, held in Terang on Sunday, saw fisheries focus on legal fishing quotas while police concentrated on driving-related offences.
Sergeant Brown said police charged a Warrnambool woman with driving under the influence of drugs and a Melbourne man was fined by the Victorian Fisheries for not having an appropriate licence.
Police also detected one unregistered vehicle and conducted 469 breath tests, which all returned a negative result. Sergeant Brown said he was extremely happy with the operation.
“All in all the weekend motorist and anglers were well behaved,” he said.
