The Roosters goal shooter said the emerging Hampden open grade outfit was chuffed to be sitting in third spot after 10 rounds.

“We are doing a lot of prelim work before receiving the ball, losing our players and being smarter,” she said.

“We’re putting fakes in and stepping around players and trusting each other and using our voices.

“We’re a quiet side but once we get around each other, the encouragement helps the vibe.”

Dwyer said the Roosters’ 6-4 win-loss record was reward for their improvement.

“The last few years our senior netball side has struggled a bit so to be third on the ladder at the halfway mark is a good achievement,” she said.

“If we keep playing our cards right and trusting each other, we’ll get positive results.”

Dwyer, 24, said she was working well in tandem with goal attack Liz Byrne.

The pair was influential in the Roosters’ 63-36 win over the Kangaroos.

“It’s my second year playing with her and it feels like it’s been a lifetime,” she said.

“It’s easy to play with her and we gel nicely.”

Dwyer, a primary school teacher at Our Lady Help of Christians, was happy with her accuracy.

“To be honest, I never know how much I have scored by the end of the game,” she said.

“It would be one of my highest matches.

“Since I am in goal shooter and am tall I tend to score more than Liz.”
