At the past players and supporters day many gathered to celebrate premierships of years gone by.
And an 18.14 (122) to 9.8 (62) win over Dennington suggested another premiership is not out of the question.
A delighted coach Mick Hunt said it was an important win, with his side producing yet another third quarter special.
“There was a lot to be gained out of today,” he said.
“Dennington was certainly here to play, they were competitive and controlled the second quarter for probably a 20-minute period.
“Then after half-time our boys got on the bike and got going again.
“So the most pleasing thing was our third quarter.
“If you have a look it has been our best quarter for a few weeks and today was no exception.
“And we all know the third quarter is pretty important and if you kick on after halftime then you are doing reasonably well.”
The Newey brothers, Ben and Sam, both played key roles in the win, with the pair being named best on ground.
A six-goal haul to Bayley Thompson was also a key factor in Timboon Demons proving too strong.
Despite coming away from the match on the back of a 60-point loss, Dennington coach Jacob Rhodes was reasonably upbeat.
He echoed Hunt’s comments regarding the Demons’ third quarter onslaught, but praised his players also.
“In the first half we didn’t start great, but we hung in there,” he said.
“And in the second quarter we played pretty good footy.
“But then they came out after half-time and kicked seven or eight goals and just blew game away.
“To our credit at three-quarter-time it looked like they could have a really big win.
“But we fought it out in the last quarter and didn't drop heads.”
Rhodes said he had plenty of respect for Timboon Demons after seeing them up close.
He said the match was a perfect chance for his side to get an accurate gauge as to where it is at.
And he believes the Bulldogs are on the right track.
“Timboon is a really even team and really hard to beat,” he said.
“We knew they’d be up for it.
“We battled hard and again in the second quarter we had a fair bit of footy.
“We are not too far off. But the third quarter lost us the game.”
Luke Pearson was named best on ground for Dennington, with Luke Duncan also a key player.
And Tim Sheldon was their leading goal kicker with three majors.
