The $90,000 playground, funded by the Warrnambool City Council, includes new slides, swings, a sand pit and a climbing gym.
It is located adjacent to the South Warrnambool Kindergarten on Stanley Street.
Kindergarten director Sandra O’Sullivan said it was wonderful to have the new facility.
“It’s a nice addition for the community,” she said.
“It’s a great asset for families. After kinder sessions mums and dads can catch up and get to know each other while their children play safely. It’s in the perfect spot for families.”
Ms O’Sullivan said it was great to see the playground constructed mostly from timber.
“The old one was a bit prone to rusting as it was made from metal,” she said.
The playground is also adjacent to a mural by Warrnambool artist Fiona Clarke and Trish McKean.
