The past week has produced school choir, junior, intermediate and open vocal competitions.
Ecklin’s Mollie Gaut, 19, took part in the open vocal section on Friday.
Gaut said competing in the eisteddfod had been an annual exercise.
“I have been competing since grade six,” she said.
“It’s a nice goal to work towards each year and the feedback you get from the judges gives guidance on where you can improve.”
Competitions for the coming week will include piano, keyboard, organ, strings, woodwind, ensembles, brass, concert and stage bands.
The eisteddfod is taking place in venues across the city including Mozart Hall, Uniting Church, St Joseph’s Church and the Lighthouse Theatre.
The eisteddfod dance competitions will run from July 10-15.
