Youth: The annual Freeza PUSH Start Battle of the Bands will be held in Camperdown on Friday night. Talented teens from across the region will compete for the 2018 top honour from 6pm at Camperdown’s Theatre Royal.

Pink: The Loft in Warrnambool will be turning pink on Friday night when they host a fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation from 8pm. Staff and patrons are being encouraged to dress in pink and make a donation.
Art: Port Fairy’s Wishart Gallery is hosting a Topographical Art Exhibition on Friday night. The unique Winter Weekends exhibition includes antique maps and surveying tools exhibited alongside a collection of contemporary pieces. Opening night for the free event is Friday from 6pm to 7pm.
Film: The Koorrayn Wildlife Shelter is hosting a film fundraiser and information night at the Pavilion Cafe’s La Bella Room from 6.30pm. ‘Kangaroo, A Love-Hate Story’ is an M-rated documentary taking a look at the plight of one of Australia’s most popular icons.
Pool Party: Belfast Aquatics in Port Fairy is hosting a Pool Party as part of the 2018 Winter Weekends festival. A splashy disco with a live DJ will be accompanied by games, dancing and a laser light show from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Theatre: The Port Fairy Theatre Group are presenting their Short Play Festival across the weekend. The Winter Weekends event includes seven local plays for all ages performed at the Lecture Theatre on Sackville Street. Performances begin at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday and Sunday at 4pm.
Gallery: Warrnambool Art Gallery are hosting the opening of the George Lance: Ripening Sunbeams exhibitions from 2.30pm to 4pm on Friday.

SATURDAY
Swim: Port Fairy will host its Winter Solstice Dawn Swim from 7am at East Beach. The gold-coin event will include a serenade of drumming and a barbecue following an early dip in the ocean. The Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club is hosting their Winter Solstice Swim at 5pm at McGennans Beach. The ocean dip will be followed by hot dinner and cold drinks in the club rooms.
Kids: Port Fairy’s Winter Weekends has events for children across the region on Saturday. Activities include yoga for kids on Saturday afternoon at the Port Fairy Yacht Club, Geocache at Suffoir Winery in Macarthur from 10am to 6pm and fairy hunting from 9am at the Visitors Information Centre.
Port Fairy Art: The Bay of Whales in Port Fairy is featuring work from local artist Brett Jarrett from 10am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday. Trevor Smith’s Sweet Yarns crochet exhibition is open from 12 noon to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday at Time and Tide Tearoom. Chris Farrell Wildlife Photography exhibition is on at Port Fairy’s Community House from 2 to 5pm on Saturday.
Adults: Port Fairy’s adult events include one-hour ghost tours in the cemetery from 4pm on Sunday and a Winter Solstice Burning Man five-course meal at Limestone Gallery from 6.30pm.
Film: Warrnambool’s Breakwater will be the backdrop of the inaugural Winter Solstice Surf Film Festival on Friday from 4pm. A series of short surf films will be projected onto the city’s landmark until 10pm, with the community encouraged to dress warm for the first-time event.
Theatre: Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre are presenting ‘Which Way Home’ from 8pm. A road trip comedy 80,000 years in the making, the 65-minute performance follows writer Katie Beckett’s memories of growing up with a single Aboriginal father.

SUNDAY
Port Fairy: Winter Weekends will wind-up on Sunday with activities lasting into the night. Adults yoga is on at the Yacht Club from 9.30am, Beach Detectives at South Beach from 10am, a Sunday Roast at Merrijig from midday, coffee-making workshop at Driftwood from 2pm and comedy at Coffin Sally from 8pm.
Gallery: The Warrnambool Art Gallery is hosting Sunday Music from 1pm to 2pm. Performances showcase local and regional musicians including solo and group performances as well as classical, operatic and choral arrangements.

TUESDAY
Film: Bethany Community Support will be screening ‘Faces Places’ at Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre as part of the 2018 Bethany Arthouse Film Festival. The G-rated French documentary, that runs for 89 minutes, will be screened from 8pm.
